The independent European organization Euro NCAP has announced the list of cars that stood out in 2019 in impact tests in each category.

The organisation’s crash tests were conducted in accordance with the stricter safety protocol, covering areas of adult passenger, child, pedestrian and driver assistance systems such as cycling and pedestrian recognition.

The “Best in Class” list includes new models from each category. They all received the five-star top rating and are distinguished for their high safety levels and stable body structure.

The best cars by category

Large family

The Tesla Model 3 and BMW 3 Series shared the award in the big family category. The American electric model scored 96% in adult protection, 86% in child protection, 74% in pedestrian protection and 94% in security systems.

The German sedan accounted for 97% of adult protection, 87% of child protection, 87% of pedestrians and 76% of safety systems.

Large SUV

Tesla Model X triumphed in this category, receiving 98% in adult protection, 81% in child protection, 72% in pedestrian protection, and 94% in the operation of security systems.

Small family

The safest small family car was the Mercedes CLA. The new generation four-door coupe has 96% protection for adults, 91% protection for children and pedestrians, and 75% for safety systems.

Small SUV / MPV

Subaru Forester was the winner in this category, receiving 97% in adult protection, 91% in child protection, 80% in pedestrian protection and 78% in security systems.

Supermini

Audi A1 and Renault Clio came in first. The German model accounted for 95% of adult protection, 85% of child protection, 73% of pedestrian protection and 80% of security systems.

The French minor received 96% in adult protection, 89% in child protection, 72% in pedestrian protection and 75% in security systems.
