Reunion island is located in the Indian Ocean just past Madagascar and Southern Africa. It is legally a French region and is part of the EU. The island of Reunion is also home to the Piton de la Fournaise, a volcano located on the eastern end of Reunion Island. Reunion is also home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site that covers about 40% of the islands area.
