Long range for the money! (Kia Niro Fully Electric 2023 review)

The new Kia Niro Fully Electric starts at $65K, which is quite a lot for a Kia, but good value when you consider the 460km WLTP range – more than a Tesla Model Y, which now starts from $72K. So, is the 2023 Niro EV good value? We start finding out in this review of the new second-generation Niro, presented by Chasing Cars road test journalist John Law in Adelaide.

The Kia Niro competes with its cousin, the Hyundai Kona Electric, and other vaguely ‘entry level’ EVs like the Model 3, Polestar 2 and Volvo XC40 Recharge. But it’s not exactly a cheap car, and it will have to fight hard against the likes of the BYD Atto 3, which arrives soon in Australia for a lot less money.

In Australia Kia will sell the new Niro in fully electric and petrol-electric hybrid forms with two trim grades (S and Sport).
